The Swipe traces its origins to us, two friends who met at the University of roehampton in 2023. We, Liuba Romanova and Alla bohomolova, often found ourselves reflecting on modern dating apps such as Tinder, Hinge and Bumble, and on what we felt was a deeper instability in contemporary relationships.
Alongside these conversations, we were also navigating the challenges of entering the journalism and media industry, struggling to find our place within it.
Taken together, these experiences led us to a shared realisation: both modern dating and the media landscape felt fragmented, oversaturated, and lacking meaningful platforms for honest reflection.
In response, we decided to create our own magazine, Swipe, bringing these two struggles together into a single creative solution. This is how Swipe was born.
